1. How do I get utilities in my name?

Please stop by the City Office at 1111 Avenue E and fill out a form. Bring your driver's license and utilities deposit.

2. What is the deposit for utility account setup?

Deposits are as follows:
$300.00 for all-electric properties(residential and business)
$400.00 for properties with gas service and electric(residential and business)

3. When is the late payment penalty assessed if the 10th of the month falls on a weekend?

If the 10th of the month falls on a weekend, the City Office collects payments up to 12:00 noon on the first business day after the 10th without penalty.

5. What is the process for deposit refunds?

A residential customer must first make 12 consecutive payments on or before the 10th of each month to have the original deposit refunded to their utility bill. A deposit of $300.00 for all electric houses and a $400.00 deposit for a house with gas is required, and is only refundable when the customer leaves the City of Wisner or has paid his/her utilities on time for 12 consecutive months. Business deposits are treated the same way as a residential deposit. Landlord deposits are treated the same way as a residential deposit. Customers may make inquiries to (402)529-6616

6. How do I enroll for budget billing?

Contact the City Office at (402)529-6616 to get placed on the budget enrollment list. The customer must have established at least a 12-month history of usage before budgeting can take place. Budgets are reviewed every July, and adjustments made with the August billing. It is recommended that you start your budget either in early Spring or early Fall.

7. Does the City accept credit cards for payment of utilities?

The City accepts credit and debit card payments. At this time, however, it does not offer online payments.

8. What are the minimum monthly charges for each residential service?

9. When are the summer utility rates in effect?

The summer utility rates are in effect from May 16 through October 15 of each year.

10. How do I report a utilities emergency?

Call the City Office at (402)529-6616 Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to Noon and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. If there is no answer or the office is closed, please call (888)529-6616 and they will get in contact with the appropriate utilities staff.

11. My water is yellow or rusty colored. Who do I contact?

Please call the City Office at (402)529-6616 to report the problem and your location. Most likely the fire hydrants in your area are either being flushed or need to be flushed. Please run water from all faucets for a few minutes to alleviate the problem.

12. Who do I call before digging?

Call Diggers Hotline at 8-1-1. The call and services are free and can save you liability for damaged utilities that you may incur if you do not call first.
