Northeast Community College
Wisner is part of the Northeast Community College service area that includes the 20 counties of Northeast Nebraska. The main campus is located in Norfolk and off-campus centers are located in communities throughout the region. Northeast offers more than 60 technical, vocational, and liberal arts programs preparing students for immediate employment or for transfer to a four-year college or university.
Lifelong Learning Center
The Lifelong Learning Center, built on the Northeast Community College Campus, is a clearinghouse for regional educational offerings from Northeast, Wayne State College, the University of Nebraska, and other public and private institutions. The center uses fiber optic and satellite technology to broadcast and receive all types of educational programming so that communities with satellite and special videoconferencing technology can receive the programming. The Lifelong Learning Center also serves as a location for workshops, conferences and meetings.
Continuing Education & Distance Learning
The Continuing Education and Distance Learning Division provides credit programs, job-upgrading and personal interest classes in 72 communities throughout the area, including the towns in Cuming County. Northeast also works with area industries, retail and service establishments, agriculture and other agencies and organizations in planning in-service and in-plant training programs.

Wayne State College (WSC) located in Wayne, Nebraska, 20 miles northwest of Wisner, serves approximately 4,000 students from throughout Nebraska and Iowa as well as several other states and some foreign countries. WSC offers nearly 40 majors and minors in 8 academic divisions. Master's degrees are also available in business and education.
