Electricity

Nebraska is the only state in the nation served with electricity totally from public power. Nebraska's public utilities have ample electric generating capacity to meet present and future needs -- and at a cost far below the national average. The Western Area Power Association (WAPA) provides the majority of the city's electrical consumption.  Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska (MEAN) provides the remainder of Wisner's usage. In addition to WAPA and MEAN power, the city owns a generation plant which remains operable and is used from time to time during maintenance periods and emergencies.

Natural Gas

The City of Wisner retails natural gas supplied by Nebraska Public Gas Association within the community limits. K N Interstate is the pipeline supplier.

Water

The municipal water system in Wisner is supplied by two wells, which have an average depth of 125 feet. The system has a combined pumping capacity of 1,000 gallons per minute and an overhead storage of 120,000 gallons The quality of water in Wisner does not necessitate a water treatment plant. The water table has not changed significantly during the past five years.

Sewerage / Solid Waste

Wisner has a municipal sanitary sewerage system and a partial storm sewer system. The Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) sewerage treatment system, newly completed in 2002, has a daily capacity of 320,000 gallons.

Privately owned waste removal services are available in Wisner. The city owns a trash compactor and transfer station. Wastes are hauled to a landfill located in Jackson, Nebraska, 60 miles northeast of Wisner.
